Who we are
Carter's Collections is an independent boutique based in Austin, Texas. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We comply with applicable U.S. and international privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What we collect
- Information you give us: Name, email address, shipping address, billing address, and phone number when you place an order or sign up for our newsletter.
- Payment information: Processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — only the last four digits and card brand for receipts.
- Automatic information: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referral source via Google Analytics 4 (anonymized) to understand site usage.
- Cookies: Essential cookies (cart, checkout, session) and analytics cookies. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings.
How we use it
- To process and ship your orders
- To send order confirmations, shipping updates, and customer service replies
- To send marketing emails (only if you opt in — unsubscribe link in every email)
- To improve our site and product selection based on aggregated usage data
- To prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers required to fulfill your order:
- Stripe — payment processing
- USPS, UPS, DHL — shipping carriers (name and address only)
- Netlify — site hosting
- Google Analytics — anonymized usage data
Your rights
You may request to:
- See what personal information we have about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your information (subject to legal record-keeping requirements)
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format (GDPR)

Data retention
Order records are kept for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. Marketing list data is kept until you unsubscribe. Anonymized analytics data is retained for 26 months in Google Analytics.
Children
Our site is intended for customers age 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the "last updated" date below and post the new version here. Material changes will be announced via email to subscribers.
